Jirna-Kasa(Chronic cough)

Suska and Ardra type of Kasa (cough) if neglected tend to develop into the chronic stage known as Jirna Kasa.

Smple  management

1.Svarasa (juice) of fresh leaf of Krishna Tulasi (black basil) – 7 to 14 ml. is to be taken with 4 to 6 g. honey, twice a day.

2.Powdered wood of Aguru (eagle) – 1 g. is to be taken with   4 to 6 g.    honey twice a day.

 

3.Powdered fruit of Maricha (black pepper) – 1 g. is to be taken with 5 to 10 g. ghee and 4 to 6 g. honey, twice a day.

Simple Preparations

1.Siddha Ghrita prepared with the decoction or Svarasa (juice) of Draksha (raisin or grape fruit) – 12 to 24 g. is to be taken twice a day.

2.Siddha Ghrita prepared with the decoction of fruit pulp of Aragvadha (cassia) – 12 to 24 g. is to be taken twice a day.

3.Siddha Ghriuta prepared with the decoction of bark of Lodhra – 12 to 24 g. is to be taken twice a day.

4. 12 to 24 g. of fresh bark of Badara(Ber) to be made as Kalka (paste), and fried in cow’s ghee,  and to be taken teice daily by Adding 1 g. of Saindhava (rock-salt)..

5.Boil fruit rind of Amalaki (embelic myrobalan) in 4 parts of cow’s milk and grind to make it homogeneous, 12 to 24 ml. of the grinded drug is to be taken with 12 to 24 g. of ghee twice a day.

6.Prepare Ghrita by Ghrita Paka method by adding fruit juice of Dadima (pomegranate), double  in the  weight of Cow’s ghee, equal quantity of  fruit juice of Amalaki (embelic myrobalan), powdered Sunthi (dried ginger), powdered Maricha (black pepper) and  1/16 part of powdered fruit of Pippalī (long pepper)to the ghee. This siddha ghrita is to be taken in the dose of 12 to 24 g. twice a day.

7.Drakshadi Chhuṇa: 600 to 850 mg. is to be taken with honey twice a day.

 

Formulations

1. Dhanvantara Gutika : 1 g. is to be taken three times a day with warm water.

2.Formulations mentioned under Shuska-Kasa and Ardra Kasa may also be given in  Jiraa Kasa according to the condition of the patient
