It is good Gastic Tonic (Muqawwi-e- meda) as well as Hepatotonic (Muqawwi-e- kabid). It is also Expectorant, Aromatic, Stimulant, Carminative, Stomachic, Aphrodisiac, Anti-spasmodic, Anti-ulcer, Bronchial Secretion Enhancer, Diuretic, Expectorant, Improves Voice and Stimulant.
It is chewed in bakhr-al- fam (onostomia). The powder is rubbed on tongue in siql-al- lisaan (heaviness of tongue) and luknat (stammering). It is also used in Zeeq-al- nafas (asthma), Bohtus Saut (Hoarseness of voice) and zof-e- bah (Sexual debility). Other indications of khulanjan are Flatulence, Diabetes, Tuberculosis, Indigestion, Vomiting, Catarrhal and Bronchial Affections, Rheumatic Pain, Chest Pain, Kidney Diseases, Chronic Nausea.
Ita Rhizome is especially indicated in rheumatism, fever, catarrh, sore throat. Other indications of the Rhizomes of Alpinia galanga Willd. are Bronchitis, Impotency, Bronchial, Catarrhal Affections and Phlegmatic Affections, Incontinence of Urine, Whooping Cough and Dyspepsia.

Khulanjaan is used in the preparation like Ma’joon khulanjan, Safoof khulanjan, Habb-e- khulanjaan Arq-e- Pan, Habb-e- Jadwar, Jawaarish Jalinus, Jawarish Ood Shirin, Laooq-e- Sufrah, Luboob Mo'tadil, Ma'joon Chob Chini, Ma'joon Muqawwi Wa Mumsik, Ma'joon Sa'leb and Ma'joon Samagh etc.
